drumstickin' it...

I will keep this brief, as I would like to get to bed tonight whilst the two little spuds are sleeping...but I wanted to get these posted for your viewing pleasure, followers. Dad.

little rays of early mornin' sunshine...this was not too long after Becky threw her Frappucino all over us...she went to shake it up and forgot the lid was OFF. look on the seat behind her...there's the proof. Mel's number is covered in peppermint mocha frappy too...kinda funny. Beck, we think it was pretty darn funny...pls know that.

the self-portrait queens...look closely between my hair and B's chin...and you can see Mel peeking thru...she is self-portrait queen in training. our apprentice.

my loving hubby of 15 years...isn't he cute?
I just realized how truly short I am. I'm not short..I'm fun-sized. got it?
cool, cool.
really cool cool...'twas so very cold but not for long...once we started jogging a bit...I sweat like the beast that I am.
bustling with activity and excitement...
pretty early morning exercisers...
anticipation...we were listening to Dave Calabro, sportscaster from channel 13...as he spoke and then opened the event in prayer...not just any prayer, folks. he prayed to the Heavenly Father and in Jesus' name...it was pretty cool and made the event just a bit more special to us.
we, of course, opted for the LOOOOOOOOOONG course. my legs are jello tonight...

E. is the little blackclad figure to the left of the 3 mile marker...the big black box is a speaker...it's cute how the residents would play music for us...it never lasted long, as we kept walking/running...

ahh, sweeet relief...the end is in sight...

Jerry Gobbler...a real live turkey

this pic is cool to me and i want to remember why...in the dead center of the pic, way up the road, you can see the mass of people...so cool, the turn out was amazing...I don't know the stats yet but if you go to tuxbros.com, you can see our times and the stats on today's event.

Jeff did the 4.5 mile run in record time for him...26 minutes. youch. not too shabby.
Melanie finished in 54 minutes...you GO, girl!
David and Will did it in 56 minutes. Way to go, guys!
Beck finished in 1:08 minutes.
E and I were in last place for our group at 1:13 minutes...much better than last year but we have a goal to get in under one hour next year.
Beck, I was impressed at your endurance...I thought I would be able to stay neck and neck with you...but having to tinkle, being much more ancient than you and all those other excuses I could enter here were all working against me. Good JOB, sis!
What an AWESOME memory to make with my family...I am so blessed to be a part of such a cool group of cats.
Thanks again, Mom, for getting up so early to be there for Mollsy and Levi...
Good night, folks.

More Drumstick magic

David, with Jeff and Emily...Jeff finished in 27 min. and Emily finished 10 min later...she really isn't picking her nose...
The 6' turkey that the fast people got to chase...
we haven't even gone a mile yet??? whoa nelly
E. walking over the "rainbow" bridge
This lady actually had a turkey on her head....you go girl
Yeah, it took us 1 hr. 22 min. to finish...it was cold too!

Ok, well here are a few more pix. I was wrong on the amount of people that signed up for this race...it was 5,000. We finished at the tail end...bringin' up the rear! you can check it out at www.tuxbro.com. You can look up our times if ya want...Will and David finished in 45 minutes...he was not that thrilled with his 10 minute miles. I am more than thrilled with our 17 min. mile pace. so there. ha.
It was awesome. I hope to get better at these things. My family enjoys these so I guess I'd better just work at it. I'm feeling it tonight. Are you, Beck??? I'm heading to beddy bye now. No early morning shopping for this ol' cat. David and the two big boys are heading to Illinois to do some work at his childhood church tomorrow as well as a quick visit out to his family. I will post the other T-Day pics on Friday. Good night and God Bless you this day! Psalm 7:17 - I will give thanks to the LORD because of His righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.
I Chronicles 16: 8-9 - Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon His name, make known His deeds among the people. Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him, talk ye of all His wondrous works.
Hope you had something to be thankful to the Lord for today. I know I do!

The Drumstick Dash!!

Elvis was in attendance...this guy actually ran in this get-up My loving hubby of 14 years!! wow. either he left his eyes at home or he was still sleeping.
Beck and her fellow racers!! check out that shirt design
E. is wearing last year's design...Mel, this year's.

See the starting line...white banner?? we were far back!
Not too far into it, there was a Starbucks...bummer, and we couldn't stop!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Hope your day was spent eating good food and enjoying the blessings of being around those you love and enjoy! I know I did...it was a fast-paced yet fun day!! I will have to do two posts to accomodate all of my Dash pix...

It was quite cold today...there were over 4,000 people at the race, which benefits a local homeless shelter...David, Will and Mel ran ahead of us. Beck, E. and I went with the walkers, though we did try our hands at "jogging" and found that it would be nearly impossible, since Beck had to use the bathroom on the entire jaunt and we are both nursing mothers. Makes for some painful running. (Aren't you glad to know THAT???) I think the 3 of us made the 4.5 walk in less than an hour and 20 minutes...we had a few setbacks, we had to wait also while the cops let some traffic go...soooooooooo, I wasn't going for any awards...I went for the shirt. I will have to take a pic of the kids in theirs! They are pretty nifty and you might be able to see them in the above pix.

All in all, it was a blast, glad to be able to be with my sissy and my son (and the rest of those crazy "runners" in my family)...it was incredible!! I am not sure how much of our entry fee actually goes to the Wheeler Mission but it has to be pretty amazing! When we got done (finally) we devoured what was left of the offered snacks...bagels, Starbucks hot choco and coffee, bananas, energy bars...and I'm sure there was other stuff but when you get there after the runners, you take what you can get and boy were those bagels good. gimmmmmeee the carbs.

I will post some more of the pix...This blogger will only let me post 5 @ a time. be back....then after that, I hope to post a few of the rather odd pics we took of our Family Thanksgiving...it was a nice, relaxing day, and I didn't even get to take a nap. das ok.
