Wilson turns SIXTEEN! and other fine events.

this is what we spent the second part of our day, all the way down in New Albany, Indiana...right next to Louisville, KY. It was a lovely day to drive with our family of 7. Unfortunately, Southside Thunder did not win their game. but they played hard!

another re-enactment...now I will just have to dig out the little version. I have some great re-enactment plans, Kara. it's going to be a long winter.

Nora Bean, waiting for us to get our acts together and dish up cakeage.

we love this boy's face. don't ask what we are doing with Will's tiny 2 year old face in the hole of a piece of notebook paper. nope. just don't ask.

while walking thru Target one fine day, Beck and I came upon these ginormous footies...and thought it'd be funny to get them for our ginormous teenager...if they'd actually fit a bit better, he'd have kept them...hiii-larious.

the 16-year old still enjoys a Marvel Encyclopedia...

bashful, as always...Hope your birthday was fun, Will. I think you will have a good time in Champaign/Urbana with Dad this week! Savor the peaceful moments!

can you believe they actually make footy pajamas this long? I honestly don't think my kids wore footies much....they were all hot sleepers like their mother. Will is so stinkin' tall!

LOL!

Today has been one of "those" days. not too bad but not particularly super either.

Worship service was good, good message on Acts 7 by Pastor Randy...donuts, fine fellowship, home to clean the house and let Molly run off with our Venti coffee and proceed to drink MOST of it.

Kids had different youth group activities tonight so while we weren't shuttling them there, we were finding out that our storage unit had been broken into and such. Yeah. not fun. But in light of the news on Facebook of the loss of my HS friend's 6 year old son, we'll be ok.

Emma's little son collapsed at school last week (from an undetected heart issue) and due to loss of oxygen, eventually went into a coma and had no brain activity. Life support was shut off at 1 p.m. California time today. Godspeed little man. Prayers and love to Emma and her family. Hug your littles....if this news just doesn't make me cherish each aggravating moment, I'm an ogre for sure. God's ways don't always make sense.

Tally ho! Onward to a new week, filled with promise and joy.

My goal is to smile when I feel like shrieking. To giggle when I feel like banging my head on the wall. I may fail. that's ok.

Soccer, I don't miss you...

"I can hold 'em both on my lap" ... so cute!

Go Piper...mid kick

awww.

Piper is the only chick on her team...

Molls found her seat. I think it's just the cutest that these little chicks are buds.

Mel, Levi, Molly and I went to Piper's soccer game yesterday morn.

My kids aren't playing soccer at Mt. P this fall, due to our upcoming trip. Have I blogged that fact yet? sorry...

It was sooooo nice to go to a game, and not worry about snacks, being there on time, knowing that our day was going to be eaten up by soccer, heat, and tired, cranky babies...though we do miss it, it is lots of fun...it IS nice to take a season off...and I mean, really, our upcoming trip is like one soccer season rolled into one 3 week trip across the country, right?

Piper, you did a good job kicking and running after that ball...you are such a doll!

Up next, park pix from the same day...

Steamy Saturday...

Um, 'scuse me, Miss, your glasses are upside down!

We're going to miss Coach Mike! A fun guy, for sure! Piper and Levi really liked him a lot! Maybe we will try to get him again in the fall. or his gorgeous wife, Chana, who also coaches little kids! Cool family!! Levi did tell me though that he doesn't want to play soccer again because he doesn't "like to get schweaty". o boy.

Molly borrowed Caroline's hat

Go Mel! She scored a goal in this game and I ACTUALLY SAW IT! I couldn't believe it! Really, what are the chances of that happening?

Levi picked a lovely handful of clovers for me. Ann and her lovely daughter, Joy, tied them all together...a nice clover chain indeed. You gals are my hippy chicks!

I do believe she inherited my great need for refrigeration....sorry girl.

I'm thinking E. looks like he hurts here...funny runner....Will is right behind him...

This moment was one of the highlights of my weekend...and we needed this moment. a good chuckle still ensues when we mention this. We borrowed Beck and Scott's neat-o canopy, so we could at least try to endure the Saturday afternoon tournament in the scorching heat...so glad and quite thankful for the offer, kids. Thanks, thanks, thanks. Anyways, there are two fields the kids were playing on...and we thought their next game was on field #2....we got all hasty pudding and moved the canopy...When we realized it was at the same field as games #1 and 2, we had to enlist all of our shade dwellers to help move it back...no big deal. But somehow in the shuffle, David got away empty handed. Check out Levi...struggling with a big ol' bag of stuff...and D. with his hands on his hips...hi-lari-ous! I think he mentioned that he was "moral support" here. yeah, whatever.

as soon as I pick up my camera or even act half way interested in the soccer games, they become quite dull, my kids don't get anywhere near the goal and you can hear crickets sawing their legs...no joke.

Jose (Mel, Will and E's coach) and Jesse...

And after all was said and done in soccer land, we had our lovely friends, the K family over for dinner and fellowship...Bobby's Guac dip, wine, Tiny Tim, toddler squabbles, Dixie Chicks...o man, the fun kept coming!

The battle of the wills...Caroline and Molly enjoyed playing Queen of the ladder....

sweet Caroline

baby bum...

Annie, Melanie, Levi, Sarah, Molly and Caroline....Will and E joined up eventually....
****************
I won't keep you now...my poor blog needed some serious updates so here you go. Don't delete me...I'm still blogging.
Ok, outta here!

Soccer Thrills....

The kids' coach, Mike, is a funny guy! All of the kids really like him and it's neat because he actually has a personality! yah for cool coaches! I'm quite surprised in this pic as well, that Piper and Levi aren't attached at the hip...she usually has her arms wrapped tightly around him...maybe those strings are loosening...maybe. probably not.

at the end of each game, the parents make a tunnel for the little players to run thru, and oh, the joy it brings to all involved. I honestly think this is why we play at this age. Otherwise, these games, quite frankly, are boriffic. No offense little folks or adults involved...it's cute for the first 3 minutes. then I'm done.

Piper, out for blooooood...and Levi stands idly by...letting her do all the work! She did get two goals, and those were just the ones I "saw"...she may have had more but again, read paragraph above...

Luciano came by to hang with us...he lives right down the street...

'Twas a chilly, windy day...everyone was trying to stay warm here...

Go PIPER! Her daddy was so proud!

Piper is behind the cluster o' kids here...fighting for the ball...while Levi acts like he's interested.
~So there ya have it...I wanted to fill you in on last weekend....I'm so very behind on all things blog related...my bad! Life just seems to be flying by at a frenzied pace right now....nice, deep breath! ahhhhh!

Ketchup...last Saturday...

Beck's in-laws, Melissa and David, came to the game too...we need more cheerleaders!

You know Levi's coach (guy in the white shirt) is thinking..."This kid would rather be picking dandelion's or using his "binoculars" to watch airplanes...sheesh".

sweet baby Luke...we all attempted to keep his sweet baby flesh covered but it was sunny and windy..

Molls and Bean playing chase...

Heather posing with Pipes

This is Jack...he was being bashful...plus, it was mildly scaldy out there and Luke is peeking out from the sling...Heather, you look magnificent! Your boys are incredibly cute!

Levi and his infamous head tilt...

Piper is the little blonde bombshell on the right...

____________________________________________

These pix are from 4/25 soccer...'twas a hot, sunny, bright day...

Our friend, Heather, (she was B's friend first but now we share)...came with Jack and newbie Luke...O.....MY....GOSH!

It's always a test for a mom, when holding a new li'l person...to be able to tell if you are done creating new life....and I'm sure I am....but that sweet, soft little guy was so snuggly and smelled so good....I did feel the "need" to have another but then Molly screamed somewhere off in the distance and I was GOOD.

the tall, lean red character is Will at his soccer game. This was the only shot I got of the big kids' games because we were driving back and forth between the two...and I had lost interest in juggling...and was already mostly sunburned....my bad...Ethan isn't in this because he was out for most of it with his bad arm! this was the game where Will received his first yellow card. (not a good thing, from what I hear but his Uncle Scott was kinda proud of him...)

and this bad boy? he was dinner at the Bills' house. Randy and Barbara (our pastor and his wife, cool cats) had us over for dinner that night...We had a really good time, and this is Randy's infamous lasagna...O dear...was it GOOD! Thanks for having us over, folks. We really enjoyed our time and we are blessed to know you and your family! (Um, notice how I didn't take any pix of the people? just the food? I have problems! see the New Year's Eve 2008 post to see pix of Randy and Barbara...or the Harvest party 08 post...)
