Molly's New 'do...

This is the expression she kept plastered on her face while Steph did her hair...so serious.

I have to say, her hair is much easier to maintain now and she doesn't have to lift it to look at you. And I think it brought out a little more peskiness in her. as if she needed anymore.

fresh hair

It's been since April for Mel and I. and probably Will too...that boy, shoot, these two kids have soooo much hair (they've taken all of mine).

So, for my hair stylin' appreciating cousin, Tory, this is for you. even though you probably saw this on Facebook. This pic is a little different. but I still look old and white.

Gotta lot to do today so I'm outta here but hope your gloomy Thursday brightens a bit.

Later...

Ok, you can call me Shorty.

this is the hair. and that's my apparently gigantic forehead.

uber short. and maybe when I figure out how to do it as well as Steph, it'll look decent.

I'll be back later, gotta exercise with Mel, but wanted to say hey...Happy Saturday...

Just don't call me Shorty, k?

Upper: Me last week
Lower: Me today....
I can't stop touching my hair...it feels so strange to me.

I need to wear scarves so my neck 1.) stays warm and 2.) doesn't look so white and available.

I hadn't planned to go this short. Here's what happened:

Got this really great flat iron for Christmas. That sucker is hot. It burned a good portion of my mop so that it resembled dog bum hair...not the kind of hair that I like to run my fingers thru because they'd get STUCK. it was gross and this was the only way of saving it.

Steph did a good job doing JUST THAT...Why does short hair look so good on her, or on other people?

I'm not saying it won't or doesn't look good...I haven't fixed it yet today and I'm skeered to. I need the good products that she uses...they smell divine too.

Anyways, this is what's going on around here. In the whole scheme of things (people dying in Haiti, people fussing over our gov't, people struggling with money, life, situations they find themselves in) it is so minor and I will get used to it.

Just don't flip out when you see me. This is the shortest I've ever had my hair. EVER.

Hope your Thursday is shaping up into a nice one...hey, the sun is shining and God is so good. all the time.

p.s. did you notice the first song that comes on when you open my blog? Forever and Ever, Amen. my Facebook friends pointed out the line in that song where Randy Travis says he's not in love with her hair, it could all fall out and he'd still love her. David thought that was pretty funny...and he told me he still loves me! good thing too.

got my hair "did"...

this is strangely reminiscent of some olden day pix of my mom...yup, pretty sure that is the same nose...have I mentioned lately how much fun photobooth is?

If any y'all are needing someone on the southside of Indy to do yo' hair...I gotcho girl. (pardon my slang talking...I need to go to bed but I must blog...)

Steph H. did Beck's hair, mine and even Piper's yesterday. for the first time. she is a miracle worker...she is gifted...she thinks about it and tells you what would look good on you and what's in style...so that's my shameless plug...if you want to visit her...give me a call...more where this came from...

In other news, we are scurrying around, gathering pretties to wear to Natalie and Nick's wedding, which will occur on September 26. We are all really excited and really excited for them...what a cute couple they are...and how much fun are weddings? and Levi in a penguin suit? o me o my! the pictures you will see...

Just got home from a shopping trip with Beck...you rock, chick. I really would be lost and pathetic without u. got some new Asics for my new running ventures and hopefully the outfit we put together for the wedding will work...David worked all day in Hville and now, it is way past our new bedtime of 10:30...outta here...chow...

haircuts and stuff

Good afternoon to you!

I was trying to take some pix of the new 'do...I always dislike my new hair the day after...

I got about 3 inches cut off, if not more...It felt quite good to lose that weight...my hair is thinning and the cut did it some good!

I am a horrible self-portrait girl, for a few reasons.

I don't know how to flatteringly hold my noggin/face/neck to look decent in pics. Plus, I have a hard time knowing how to hold the cam right to get it that way.

this is a total "nerd head" pose...and it was windy to boot.

My sister is good at all of this. She can "turn it on" with a moment's notice...we were playing around at soccer practice (making her husband peeved since we were jabbering and photo shooting, not watching our little ones at their FIRST practice)...She is good, she has "it" down.

poser

she can even "self-portrait" with 2 extra people...

Ok, well I have some pix from soccer practice with Levi and Pipes...but I will have to post them later...I'm out the door to the YMCA...and off to a busy, hectic weekend!

Hope this finds you all peachy keen and doing well!

I let my girl go today...

Melanie went on her first camp adventure today. I don't necessarily think a child "needs" that time in their life...especially at the the tender age of 10...but the fact that the camp is only 3 days long, and is being put on by a really good church, and that it's a relatively small group of kids attending, I was a bit less apprehensive saying OK. I never went to summer church camp as a pre-teen...I did attend missions trips with my youth group but even then...I was a momma's girl...didn't enjoy being away from home for too long...

All this to say, I'm really just trying to justify Mel's departure in my mind.

I will explain below...

This is the crew of kids...in their departure ceremony...we just made it in time...I dropped her off early and had to head back home to get all the guys in our house...Mel and Maddie's counselor, Miss Nicole, is the chick in purple at the very left handed side of this picture.

This is Mel running thru the tunnel of parents...

Here she is with her pal, Maddie...I didn't even get to hug her good-bye. I didn't know that once they made it thru the tunnel, that they were heading right out to the buses...I sobbed a bit but sucked it up so she didn't see me! She held it together all right but I could tell she was struggling. What have I done? Please, Lord, keep her safe, Please Lord, watch over her. Please Lord, help her to learn so much...making this trip so memorable. Please Lord, remind me not to do this again. for a while anyway!

Bye Bye Mel-Mel...there goes the bus! sniff sniff. sob....waaaaa.

Guess who got a haircut today? Yes, there was a boy under allllllllll that hair! and he's so handsome!

Guess who else got a hair cut? Yes, there is a handsome hunk of a boy under all that coarse hair as well! He had just gotten done on the elliptical hence the redness! this is not a very flattering pic of E, sorry kid! he refuses to smile willingly in pictures!

Guess who is a sick boy today? Poor Willi Vanilli! puny and icky. He really needed a hair trimmin' as well!

Guess who is a busy body, causing me to really, really appreciate all the help that Mel is to me??

David is in the background, and yes, he is clothed...he just has his shirt off since he had just cut his own hair!

Guess who was in town this weekend? our good friend, Randy...here for a visit this weekend....

Well, now it's Monday...Mel is away, hopefully having the time of her life! I didn't get a call so she must be doing ok. In doing my "this and that" stuff yesterday afternoon (Sunday), I realized just what a big help Miss Mel-Mel is to me...and not only that but how she does it so willingly! She is really an awesome and unusual kid. She likes to help out, she likes to be needed, and she is such a good daughter and sister! She helps with out grumbling (mostly) and joyfully! Man, I miss her.

Will was sick all day yesterday. We had eaten Long John Silver's (we rarely eat it) with our friend Randy Sat. night (thanks for dinner, Mr. W). It didn't sit well with Will..and it shouldn't, that is some rich, greasy food. A treat for sure! So he was sick, Levi, E, David and Randy all got their hair cut by Barber David. Molly is so pesky. Have I mentioned that? E, David and I all exercised, swam, and went to hang out at Jeff's house.

Those of you that know how muuuuch Levi likes getting his hair cut will pleased to know that he did very well! He didn't even cry, which in turn causes him to end up eating his own hair etc. He is growing up! E. was so relieved to get that mop of hair off of his head. He said he felt a lot lighter.

Today, we have our Science Club down at the lovely Donna's! Will is coaching at Mt. P's soccer camp so we will be late to class. I am making bread this morning, Molly is in her crib playing with her jungle toy, E. and Levi are getting up, David is on his way to work and MELANIE IS AT CAMP. (she's only one hour away, give or take a few minutes)....so I will try to get back on here later to bore you again with more of my snooze-a-palooza pictures.

Lots of love to y'all!

these are seriously out of order..but meet Phil...hubby of my beautician queen, Michelle (see below) He is one of the nicest dudes you will meet...looks can be deceiving for sure!
Piper's First Christmas Program Performance...kinda like playing Where's Waldo..but she is somewhere in the front! if you can find her, I will give you a sticker. :) look at all those crazy parents...rudey dudey's

Levi and Mollster sniffing salsa fragrances wafting from Donna's kitchen
Wednesday's snow...we got more today! I'm over it.
Lovely Michelle (wife of Phil...guy in first pic) working her magic...or at least trying to...she rocks!! ROCKS I TELL YA! she does the best she can on this peanut head.
Becky being beautified! as if SHE needs any help!
Phil as the Heisman trophy...Nora being the football...one of the perks of being laid back...people do crazy things with you and to you!! she's a good "sport"...haa haa
Phil and Michelle have such a cute house...we get our hair rinsed in her cool sink, just like the ol' days...this is beck gettin rinsed...thought it was a funny pic as she struggled with soap and water in her eyes. I'm still a mean ol' big sister. Dontcha love Michelle's hair? I'll call her POSH Spice!
Ok, so this is a really, really rambly post and I apologize!! I have not been able to post for the past few days, either due to my Kodak software not cooperating or the Google blogger not allowing me to upload pix...sooooooooooo, sorry!
These pix are all out of order as well. I need to learn how to upload them the right way..but I had so many I wanted to post. Beck and I got our hair done with our good friend, Michelle. We used to go to church with her...and I have a really funny ol' pic of her giving me a perm in our townhouse back in 1992...I will have to dig that out! it's classic. Well, she is an instructor at a local beauty college and gets done at 10 p.m. hence, we don't get started till well after 10..it makes for a late night but it's always fun, esp. when her hubby gets home...he is a hoot! looks intimidating but the exact opposite actually! Big teddy bear!
Salsa...I am hoping Santa will bring me a food processor for CHRISTmas so I can learn to make this salsa. Jill tackled it yesterday and Donna and I got to watch, learn, and chop with her! It was so fun..thanks Jill...it is soooooooooo good!!
We went to Pipes' first little Christmas ditty last night...it was cute (what I saw of it anyway)...parents of other kids really crack me up...standing up in the aisles, paying no regard for the folks behind them...I gave up and saw her for a second up there but it was mayhem in my section. Parents, please be thoughtful!! Your fathers were not glassblowers!
On another note, it was quite funny (as it always is to Beck and I) to watch people check me out and say HI, only to be ignored because they think I'm Beck and I don't answer to her name (but I do when my mom calls me Beck)...It amazes us the way peeps think we look alike, or ask us if we are twins! hee hee. Someone told us that as we've gotten older, we've begun to look more alike...not so much as kids. I guess that is very true.
I have a lot of stuff to do today, as Beck, Mom and I are goin CHRISTmas shopping tonight..so I'd better get productive! Hope you all have a lovely, snowy Friday and a very productive one at that!

Do you remember this guy?

Will, about 8 pounds lighter
I like the short back and long front...
A Target bag full of hair...we are making David a toupee for Christmas
It's good to have you back, Will!!

As you can see, David gave Will a hefty hair cut today. While we liked the "trendy" hair, it was getting rather scraggly and gross...plus, it was always in his face so we opted for this freshly cut look. He seems pretty happy and E. told him it was good to have his brother back. silly boys.
Chow!
